Physical Therapy

Holistic (or “integrative”) physical therapy (PT) supports the full spectrum of healing that occurs with pain, injury, and/or physical limitations. Many traditional PT clinics focus on body-part specific treatment or standardized exercise programs. What you will find here, at Portland Natural Health, however, is a thorough approach to rehabilitation with an average of 45 – 60 minute appointments with a doctor of physical therapy. Using a combination of manual therapy modalities (including osteopathic and muscle energy techniques, deep tissue and Thai massage, visceral manipulation, joint mobilization, lymphatic drainage, augmented soft tissue mobilization, taping techniques, and a variety of additional treatment methods) and individualized therapeutic exercise to assist the body’s natural healing potential, your physical therapist will address your specific health-related needs.

Physical Therapy can benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and neurological dysfunctions, including the following: pre/post surgical patients, acute and chronic pain conditions, spine pain, headaches, athletes in training or those wanting to return to recreational sports, tendonitis, vestibular impairments/ dizziness, TMJ disorders, whiplash from motor vehicle accidents, women’s health issues, repetitive use and work related injuries, injury prevention, and people who desire to understand their bodies more fully.

If you feel that you may benefit from physical therapy services, you may not need a physician’s referral.  However, we find that a team approach to wellness is invaluable, and we’re happy to collaborate with your other health care providers.
