Rachel Allen, LMT

Rachel AllenMy love for massage, yoga, nutrition, and holistic health began at an early age.  After completing my undergraduate degree from Humboldt State University, I moved to Hawaii to pursue my passion of surfing, yoga, and health.  I began practicing massage in 2004 after graduating from the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork on the island of Kauai.

My certification is in Structural Integration, presence centered awareness (somatic bodywork), and therapeutic massage. Working closely with the incredible body workers on the island and here in Portland has shaped my massage style and broadened my expertise.  As a massage therapist I care deeply about the health of my clients and I work in partnership with them to reach their wellness goals.

I carefully tailor my sessions to meet the particular needs of each client. I believe that combining relaxation techniques with deeper, more structural techniques enhances treatments and brings about greater well-being. Some of the techniques that I specialize in are Swedish, Deep Tissue; trigger point therapy, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Ayurvedic massage, Cranio Sacral Therapy and Hot Stone.  A majority of my professional experience has been working with clients who have chronic pain. I also enjoy working with athletes.

When I am not doing massage, I spend time working with children in the field of education.  In leisure, I enjoy surfing, hiking, practicing yoga, riding my bike, cooking delicious fresh food from my garden, and taking classes to expand my knowledge.  I have had the wonderful opportunity of traveling throughout the world and enjoy being surrounded by different languages and cultures. I am a firm believer in the balance of one’s life.  Prioritizing work and play as well as balance among mind, body, and spirit.

“Rachel gives a wonderful relaxing, yet deep massage. She has amazing intuition and many years of experience to guide her hands to transport you to new levels of awareness.” -Carol
