Holly Hamilton, DPT, LMT
After graduating from Wake Forest University with a degree in Health and Exercise Science, Holly returned to her hometown of Nashville, TN to study a variety of healing modalities at the Natural Health Institute and begin her own practice as a licensed massage therapist. Excited to expand her knowledge of the body and how it heals, she chose to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy at Pacific University, which prompted a move to Portland with her husband. After several years of advanced study, Holly graduated at the top of her PT class in 2006 with a speciality in orthopedics.
Holly describes her practice model as “holistic physical therapy,” an approach that uses a combination of hands-on techniques and individualized therapeutic exercise to bring body awareness and balance to patients with pain or physical limitations that are impairing quality of life. She also integrates the principles of body alignment and postural re-training, yoga, and core stabilization to help patients find joy in the freedom of movement. Each therapy session includes manual therapy, patient specific exercise/movement re-education, and counseling about any underlying imbalances in the body. Each patient receives skilled, ongoing assessments and a customized program.
Physical therapy borders on the fields of complimentary/alternative and traditional/allopathic medicine. While there are many different approaches to the practice of physical therapy, Holly feels that her calling in the healing community is to provide outstanding physical rehabilitation services while supporting the whole person. As a practitioner, Holly exudes a calm, positive strength that she uses to help her clients achieve wellness. To maintain balance in her own life, Holly seeks inspiration from the outdoors and through creative collaborations in the areas of art, music and dance.
